These Kids Wear Crowns alternate Jumpstart single covers.

Broke.
Ain’t got no money,
Don’t know where to go.
Just sittin’ staring at the stereo.
I think we better turn it UP, turn it UP, turn it UP

Loud.
Cause lately I’ve been feeling kind of low.
Let’s blow the speakers on the radio;
Cause tonight we’re gonna’
Break it DOWN, break it DOWN, break it DOWN.
We gotta get up off of the ground!

(Chorus)
We’re gonna give it a JUMPSTART
4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
What’s up, when we get it going
No way we’re gonna stop!
And all you need is a SPARK, SPARK
If it’s all that you got!
GOT, GOT, GOT, GOT
We’re gonna give it a JUMPSTART
4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
What’s up? We’re gonna dance until our L-L-LEGS
Go into shock!
Like an adrenaline SHOT, SHOT going straight to the HEART, HEART
Heart, heart, heart, heart.
WE’RE GONNA GIVE IT A JUMP!
Whoa, Oh, Eh, Oh (x5)
HEY !
We’re gonna give it a jump.!

Dreams.
We got enough that we can fill the tank
And even if we gotta break the bank;
You know we’re gonna TURN IT UP, TURN IT UP, TURN IT UP

Time.
Ain’t got to worry ’bout it anymore.
And if they try to stop us at the door,
You know we’re gonna BREAK IT DOWN, BREAK IT DOWN, BREAK IT DOWN
We gotta get up off of the ground!

(Chorus)
We’re gonna give it a JUMPSTART
4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
What’s up, when we get it going
No way we’re gonna stop.
And all you need is a SPARK, SPARK
If it’s all that you got!
GOT, GOT, GOT, GOT
We’re gonna give it a JUMPSTART
4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
What’s up? We’re gonna dance until our L-L-LEGS
Go into shock!
Like an adrenaline SHOT, SHOT going straight to the HEART HEART.
Heart, heart, heart, heart.
WE’RE GONNA GIVE IT A JUMP!
Whoa, Oh, Eh, Oh (x5)
HEY!
We’re gonna give it a jump!

Can you feel the electricity in the air
Anytime, Anyplace, it will always be there.
When your heart stops baby,
Heart stops baby
YEAH!

(Chorus)
We’re gonna give it a JUMPSTART
4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
What’s up, when we get it going
No way we’re gonna stop.
And all you need is a SPARK, SPARK
If it’s all that you got!
GOT, GOT, GOT, GOT

Fable II

Fable is a  really fun game to play.  It’s one heck of an  RPG .  In the game you are a boy or

girl  depending  on which one you choose called  Sparrow.  Of course like most rpg games there’s a quest
you have to complete but  there’s only some quest ‘s you can unlock  by finishing the game.  This adds to the
duration of  game life as it fun to keep trying different paths and occupations through the game.
It’s  quite an easy game I must admit but that adds to the fun as you  wonder around trying everything without
the fear of  dying.
A major plot of the game is whether you decide to follow a good or bad path.  As a consequence of your choices
your physical appearance changes throughout the game.  You can change your name in  the game but you
have to buy  them from the town crier . There’s a town crier in each  town  but if you don’t want to buy the names
you can get them for free by doing  things, for example if you commit  enough crimes you can then be called  “Desperado”.
Theres also various jobs in the game like  blacksmith and  woodcutter. There  are five stars for each job , the more
stars you get the more money you get.
I have finished  the game twice but am yet to master gaining the sought after halo (by being 100% good and pure).  There’s also
a dog that follows you around everywhere. When you knock a bad guy on the ground your dog will sometimes  maul the living hell
out of them.
Overall this is a fun game ,  a great introduction to RPG’s.  It is light-hearted but a bit rude and can be a little gross at  times.

Highly recommended

the simple gift – Cover Analysis

In English we had to do a cover analysis of the book the simple gift by Steven Herrick.

This is what I came up with:

the simple gift by Steven Herrick

The cover of the verse novel, the simple gift, provokes contrasting feelings of warmth, calamity, despondency and hope. The reflection of a sunrise or sunset suggests the end of an era or a new beginning. The colours and images suggest the novel is a coming of age story aimed at young adults.

Depicted in the centre of the cover is an outward facing hand holding an old style key. The hand looks aged and the sleeve of a maroon jumper suggests it belongs to a man. The key is placed in his left hand which indicates he is receiving it either as a gift or maybe a prize. It could symbolise the key to someone’s heart or the key to happiness or maybe it unlocks the door to a new world, a better world. I think the key might be a sign that there is still hope.

Situated behind the hand is what looks to be storm clouds. They seem to be split in half at the middle of the page. A sunrise or sunset is reflected on the bottom half of the clouds, tinting them with orange. This could suggest the end of an era or a new beginning. The black in the top of the clouds instils a feeling of mystery and fear and suggests great tragedy or misfortune, whereas the orange suggests warmth and balance. It could also mean that the protagonist is demanding of attention.

In between the two halves of cloud is a picture of a train track. This leads one to believe that the protagonist may be running from or to something, breaking through the darkness and away from misery. Maybe the story is about someone going on a journey to find happiness, taking a chance, catching a train to an unknown destination, running away from tragedy not knowing where they will end up, leaving with nothing but hope for a better life and a key, possibly the key to happiness. The train track, like the sunset, could symbolise a new beginning, a change of times.

Next one’s eyes move to the title at the top of the page, the simple gift. What is the simple gift? Love? Happiness? Freedom? Could it be the key in the man’s hand? That which unlocks the door to what one most wants? That, to me, is the simple gift. The text is a light purple which symbolises the foundation of all that is, a combination of strength and mercy. It suggests that the protagonist is imaginative, visionary, etheric and a daydreamer. In the title the word ‘the’ is the smallest out of them all; it is situated above the word ‘simple’ and to the left. This is most likely done because ‘the’ is the least important word in the title. Next is the word ‘simple’. It is the largest word on the page which suggests it is the most important word. The word ‘gift’ is slightly larger than ‘the’ but smaller than ‘simple’. It is situated underneath the word ‘simple’ and to the right. The font is simple, keeping in theme with the title and has no uppercase letters.

The only other text on the page is the author’s name, Steven Herrick. It appears to be in the same font as the title but this time uppercase letters are used because it is his name. The text is still purple but it is a slightly darker shade and it is situated at the bottom of the page. This is most likely done because the publisher feels the authors name is not as important as the title, marketing wise. Or it could just be an aesthetic choice, done to balance out the page and put the emphasis on the image in the middle.

One’s eyes will also come across a small silhouette of a power line in the right corner of the page. This could just be for aesthetic purposes, in keeping with the theme of trains, but I think there is more to it.  It may be there to put an emphasis on the train tracks or it may indicate power, authority, command and control. It looks like it is in the distance; fading, like the life he is leaving. I believe the power line is there to represent the life and the unruly authority the protagonist is running away from.

I imagine the novel will be about an elderly man telling the story about the time he ran away from home in search of a better place. Tales will be told of his journey out of the darkness and into light, of all the trouble he got in, all the mess he made and how he found a way out of it all, how he found love, happiness and the place where he truly belonged.

été absent

Hello!

If you understand French to any degree, you’ll know that the title says “Been Away”, if you understand me to any degree, you’ll know that I used a translator to find that out.

The purpose of this post is to apologise for my lack of writing in the past few weeks, believe me this isn’t anthing to do with having a ‘writing-abstinence’, to put it simply I haven’t really had the time to post at all, but I have however been able to come up with many ideas, which you will see in posts in the weeks to come. Unfortunately my absence was partly to do with a ‘lovely’ thing called depression, and again, if you understand me to any degree, you’ll know that I’m not saying that it’s lovely but that I am indeed using sarcasm . . . but enough of these “if you understand x to any degree” contexts, and let’s get on with the post.

‘Twas two weeks ago, and all through the house, nothing was stirring, not even the house? . . . okay . . . no, it wasn’t quite that mystical. Two weeks ago I slumped into a moderate state of depression, I felt ignored, overloaded, stressed. All in turn played their part to ruin my mood even more, I began to feel tired, exhausted, from the sleepless nights of pounding my thoughts back and forth, as I tried to recover mentally. But to no prevail, if anything I was making the situation worse. I would go to school with hardly any enthusism, I sat down in home group as the rest of the class talked in their big groups, I angled my eyebrows downwards as the words ‘ignorant’, ‘pathic’, and ‘judgemental’ entered my mind, and soon was used to label each class member, one by one, with a 3 in 3 chance of being labeled as a participant in the careless debate.

Then, on Tuesday night, I was informed of a death in my family, my grandfather had passed away at 6pm.

I had thought that I was already on rock-bottom, but as the floor below me began to crumble, I realised there was more that you could fall, further down, the chances of recovering becoming just as dim as the light flare coming from the top of the hole, the cavern. What else could come of this? Would I sink into a state of limbo? Sleeping, no longer caring to any degree, no longer feeling anything or hinting towards my humanity.

But then began the recovery.

Sunday morning I rised to a change, I stared upon my room, conjested with clothes, homework, pieces of paper which had been tore up in disregard, my refusal of interest. Then, as I rose in my bed, sitting up and scanning the room with my eyes, I decided change. I cleaned off my desk, removed unwanted filth and then continued with the rest of my room. A large KNEX structure which I had built when we arrived at this house, was demolished in a couple of  hours, sigifying a psychological link, a connection, as though I was removing the stale life that I had once lived. You could say it was simply placebo, I believed that the clensing of my room was the clensing of my mind, but whether placebo or simply the excitement of something new, it worked.

Welcome back California! . . . no wait, what?

You can tell from my sudden humour that I’m feeling better.

So til the next post.

See ya!

Ben.

Rise up – Blessthefall

Keep your eyes focused this time
Keep us in front of your sights
I’ve waited long for this, now it’s our time for bliss
I just hope we have the time,
I stand broken please God hear my cries
He does every time

How many times have you watched me fall just to smile,
I’ve been through thick and thin we’ve struggled through now we smile,
so we’re here now just be ready, brace yourself cause were not leaving

Keep your eyes focused this time
Keep us in front of your sights.
I’ve waited long for this, our time to shine
I just hope we have the time,
I stand broken, please God hear my cries
He does every time

Help us get out, Help us get out out into the open
Help us grow, rise up, rise up
Help us grow, rise up, rise up
Help us grow, rise up, rise up
Help us grow, rise up, rise up

I stand broken, please God hear my cries
He does every time
I stand broken, please God hear my cries
He does every time, he does every time

Keep your eyes focused this time
Keep us in front of your sights
I’ve waited long for this, now it’s our time for bliss
I just hope we have the time,
I stand broken please God hear my cries
He does every time

Halo: CE Anniversary News

Hey everyone,

For all those gaming freaks out there, this is what we have been waiting for.

This is really an add-on to one of Ben’s earlier blogs, but please check it out.

The new Halo CE will be out on November 15, 2011!! Some people are asking whether it will be just like the very first one. The answer is YES!! 343 Industries have re- developed Combat Evolved to look like a game that is brand new. The look of the game is way better than before, but 343 haven’t touched the gameplay AT ALL. The pistol is just as over-powerful as before, 3 shots to an elite and he is dead. 😀 The big battle at the start of level 4, The Silent Cartographer, is still there, and I bet anything that if you compare the first Halo to the new one, the gameplay will be exactly the same.

Check the video out guys. It is really cool.
